Naloxone Instruction Evaluation Tool
The Naloxone Instruction Evaluation tool, (NIE), is an evaluative tool designed to assess the effectiveness of opioid poisoning instructional resources. We developed it based on emergency visual communication literature, other medical sequential informational tools, and expertise from harm reduction workers. The NIE prototype you will see in this form consists of a total of 14 questions, each scored on a 5 point likert scale. Please choose the option that you believe best or most closely reflects the resource you are evaluating. This will produce a final score out of 65. The higher the NIE score, the stronger the resource is.

Online Learning Module
We have developed comprehensive online module on naloxone kit usage and opioid poisoning awareness. In this course, we aim to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to recognize the signs and symptoms of opioid poisoning and effectively administer naloxone to provide life-saving aid in critical situations. Whether you're a healthcare professional, a first responder, or a concerned citizen, understanding how to identify opioid overdose emergencies and taking prompt action can make a significant difference in saving lives.

Knowledge Dissemination Tools
In Spring 2023, we worked with the Canadian Red Cross and University of Alberta Design Students in the Design for Integrative Health course to develop specialized alternative solutions for substance use disorders within local communities.

COMCAP
The COM-CAP project aims to support the work of organizations leading community opioid related plans by designing a capacity-building model that is evidenced-based and multi-dimensional in providing on-going support that promotes expansion and sustainability. The model presents the main areas to be considered and developed to address local needs around opioid and overdose plans.
